Knitting is traditionally perceived as a rather prim pastime but the "new" knitting is proving that bitching and stitching is cool again. Work showcased in this exhibition illustrates the sheer variety of modern knitting – from contemporary art and design to the hobbyist phenomenon.
The exhibition includes works from artists Shane Waltener and Rachael Matthews, designers Jemma Sykes and Tait and Style, plus many more. Cast Off founder Rachael Matthews orchestrated the world’s first completely knitted wedding for knit artist Freddie Robins in 2005. Get Knitted will be the first exhibition to feature items from this unique event including the wedding dress.
