Led Zep Too (40th Anniversary)

23rd November 2008

Foundry

Start Time: 7:00pm

End Time: 11:00pm

Led Zep Too, having established themselves as the most authentic tribute to "live" Led Zeppelin ever, felt that a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original band could not be missed in 2008.

After the break up of the Yardbirds in 1968 Jimmy Page formed a new group, with former session bassist John Paul-Jones and relative unknowns Robert Plant and John Bonham. The first gigs they played were to fulfil commitments made by the Yardbirds but it quickly became obvious that this was no "New Yardbirds" but a completely new and outstanding group. The name Led Zeppelin was adopted for their first gigs in the UK but it was not until a gig at Surrey University in Battersea on 25th October 1968 that they were actually billed as "Led Zeppelin". Led Zep Too commence their 40th anniversary celebrations, at the new site of Surrey University in Guildford, on the 25th October exactly 40 years on. They are also playing gigs in Bath and Exeter as well as reviving the famous Crawdaddy club for one night only. On November 23rd they are very pleased to be playing at Sheffield University, again exactly 40 years to the day since Led Zeppelin played there(1968–2008). They will play two sets. The first as close to the original as performed 40 years ago including one or two songs performed live but never recorded. The second set will be a greatest hits set with all the essential Classic Zep tracks. They will be supported by Haze a classic rock band from Sheffield.
