The second Westfield Health Annual Lecture will be given by Professor Karol Sikora, who will be exploring "Cancer - A Disease of Our Time". The talk will be in the Pennine Theatre.
The age of the world’s population is rising dramatically. This will increase the total burden of cancer with many patients living with considerable comorbidity. At the same time new technology in many areas of medicine is bringing improvements to the quality and length of life. Major innovations in a number of areas are likely to have the greatest impact and will need to be anticipated in the future configuration of cancer services. Global providers will arise to deliver optimal care tailored to the local economic environment. The future landscape of cancer service delivery will be very different from now – fast paced, competitive, consumer focused, internet driven and with far more real patient empowerment.
