Tom Rodwell
22nd October 2008
Shakespeare Hotel
Notorious singer/guitarist Tom Rodwell, recently back from dates in the USA and down under, performs funky obscure blues, slave-era spirituals and gospel music, plus the occasional calypso jump tune. With an improvisational approach and occasional unexpected guests (tabla, cello and banjo have all recently surfaced) Rodwell guarantees a musically intriguing experience for bohemians of all ages, to challenge your ideas of the health and direction of R and B.
"By turns wild, angry, hypnotic and sensual, it's as uncompromising as it is funky and some of the best live music I've seen" - Blues in London.
"Thanks for making my job a lot harder, man" - Otis Taylor.
"Psychotic gospel music" - Blues in Britain.
